The Global Ombuds office provides an alternative, neutral, and independent avenue for employees to express work-related concerns in total confidentiality without fear of retaliation. Ombuds managers are impartial dispute resolution practitioners operating outside the normal chain of command, who are authorized to respond to and assist in resolution of employee complaints and concerns.

The Manager of the group ensures appropriate outreach and interacts with senior leaders to identify areas of opportunity and concern. The leader also coaches and develops team.


Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


  • Manages a geographically dispersed team of Ombuds Managers, in addition to the processes and procedures for fulfilling the mandate of the Global Office of Ombuds.
  • Develops global strategic direction, vision, philosophy, and objectives that are aligned with Chevron’s We Lead, Diversity & Inclusion, Chevron Way and Business priorities, with the goal of helping employees bring their best selves to work.
  • Designs metrics and corresponding measures for Ombuds function, including data collection and analysis across the enterprise.
  • Develops and deploys a global communications strategy (in-person, brochure, Web) that informs and educates client base of availability and purpose of the Ombuds office in dispute resolution. 
  • Meets with senior leaders to provide insights and actions with respect to trends, change management, and conflict resolution.
  • Serves as an Ombuds, facilitating the peaceful resolution of disputes through coaching, influencing, mediation and/or negotiation skills.


Required Qualifications:


  • Applicants must have at least five years of experience in the conflict resolution or organizational ombudsman related field
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Prior leadership experience 
  • Must have experience working with data from issues to prepare and present reports to management as well as counsels officers, senior management and line management to ensure awareness of type and extent of issues occurring in the workplace
  • Some travel is required


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioner certification
