Overview:

 

The Tank Program Coordinator at the Chevron Salt Lake Refinery will be part of the IMPACT (shutdowns and turnarounds) Group in the Maintenance Department.  The tank repair program plays a key role in supporting the plant’s goal to operate safely, optimally, reliably, predictably, and without incident at the lowest sustainable cost. This involves taking a lead role in understanding and evaluating tank performance, working closely with Operations and Maintenance to establish priorities for tank work, and following through with proactive design and execution of projects and improvements.  The Tank Program Coordinator is responsible for safely and efficiently developing, planning, executing, and documenting the Tank Repair Program.  The tank repair program repairs/upgrades approximately 4 to 6 tanks and/or LPG spheres and associated equipment each year.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

 

  • Develops multi-year budgets, secures funding approval, and manages work within budget for all work to be completed.
  • Develops work scope for each tank and associated piping in accordance with applicable codes and Chevron standards.  Focus is on total cost of ownership for each asset via an optimized workscope and innovative execution.
  • Interprets and applies API 653/650 to refinery tanks.
  • Scopes and troubleshoots mechanical problems and issues, develops alternatives, and proposes and implements solutions for long term reliability.
  • Answers technical inquiries, makes technical recommendations, and provides tank and system troubleshooting.
  • Schedules and facilitates progress meetings with stakeholders.
  • Documents all tank repairs in engineering files and via the MOC (management of change) process.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of 5 years of refinery and/or process plant experience in Engineering, Maintenance, or Inspections. 
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • An understanding of tank and pipe design, maintenance, inspection, and operation. 
  • Ability to plan and organize projects from inception to start up.
  • Understanding of gated work process for projects is critical. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of estimating tools and cost control.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate ideas to a wide range of groups within the refinery. Good meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with operators, mechanics, supervisors, construction contractors and management to complete projects on time and on budget to meet the business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • API-653 experience. 
  • 2 years of project management experience.
  • Experience with Chevron Engineering Standards for tanks, heaters, and/or piping.
  • Knowledge of the planning and business side of the refinery.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

Relocation may be considered with Chevron parameters.
