Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide instrumentation and analyzer engineering expertise in the support of a petroleum refinery.
  • Responsible for instrumentation, analyzers, and control systems design, specification, installation, testing, start-up, and maintenance support.
  • Provide engineering analysis and evaluation of small capital projects. In many instances, responsible for the design, management and execution of these projects.
  • Follow all applicable industry and company standards applicable to work being performed.
  • Support requires collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to work with operators, maintenance and other engineers.
  • Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting analyzer and instrument problems in the refinery.
  • Work with maintenance and contractors to plan and schedule the execution of the Instrument and Analyzer projects.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Department to ensure reliability of analyzers, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Work with Analyzer Engineers across system to seek and share lessons learned around analyzer and Instrument installations.
  • Carry out various studies to improve plant safety, reliability and economics.
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of unit turnarounds, both planned and unplanned.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • Demonstrated 2+ years petroleum refining or related industry experience.
  • 2+ Years instrument and analyzer experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial safe working practices and standards.
  • Excellent planning, organizing, written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of code requirements, including OSHA and Process Safety Management, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Demonstrates role model behavior supporting The Chevron Way principles and values including support for diversity, leadership, teamwork, and customer focus. Creates and promotes environment of trust and teamwork through actions and own behaviors.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience with plant start-ups and troubleshooting of complex control and operational problems.
  • Demonstrated experience with control equipment that includes PLC’s and DCS’s.
  • Demonstrated experience with low voltage (<480V) systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and working with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Demonstrated ability to complete complex assignments in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to meet project schedules and costs with minimal supervision.
  • Self-starter.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with analyzers including online GC’s, CEMS, and other process analyzers and instrumentation.




Relocation Options:
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
