Chevron's Energy Technology Company (ETC) provides subject matter experts (SME's) to the company operations around the world. This position on the Materials and Corrosion R&D Team will further strengthen Chevron's core competencies in the development and application of advanced materials in our Downstream and Upstream operations worldwide.  The role will require deep knowledge and experience across a broad range of materials technologies. Prior hands-on work in the testing, engineering, development including microstructural evaluation and impact on properties   of both ferrous alloys and corrosion resistant alloys is required.  Candidates should also have familiarity with corrosion science, including basic electrochemistry, and non-metallic materials.  In addition to serving as one of our subject matter experts, the candidates primary responsibility will be to lead Strategic Research (SR) and Technology Development (TD) projects and develop new research ideas in areas pertaining to advanced materials and corrosion control.  This role involves engagement with Chevron Business Units to deploy these technologies.



  • Education: MS and/or Ph.D. in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Corrosion, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of materials R&D experience outside of academia
  • Minimum 5-years of industry experience preferrably in oil and gas
  • Minumim of 3 years experience working with microstructure-property relationships in materials. 
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with broad materials testing to include: physical properties, corrosion, stress corrosion cracking.
  • Knowledge of electrochemistry and corrosion mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge and problem-solving skills in industrial business environments.
