Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•  Work with project/construction managers to help engineer solutions with construction in mind.  This would include working with project/designs/project engineers in concept development and into engineering. 

• Participate in all constructability reviews.  Lead constructability reviews for small projects.

• Lead the development of work packages to help drive work efficiently in the field.

• Work with project procurement to ensure all materials are on site and packaged to allow for easy contractor accessibility.

• Validate three week look ahead with Construction Manager to ensure labor and materials are lined up.

• Function as the intermediary between the field and project engineering.  Initial contact for RFI’s from the field.

• Working with Construction Service Manager to develop process standards for group.  Drive tactical plan for CM group (planning/estimating/work packages).

• Assist Company Rep Group Supervisor with refinery head count control.  Fill in as construction manager for projects as needed.

• Ensures safe execution of construction works in compliance with facility and manufacturing requirements providing construction supervision, contractor management and client support during construction execution and facilities handover into operation.

Applicants will be selected based on the following criteria:

1. Technical Competency/Skills/Experience - Proven competence in construction management in phase 4 is required.  Effective application of CPMS principles, practices and tools.   Demonstrated leadership role in Phase 4 project delivery of refinery projects is preferred.

2. Influence Skills-- Demonstrated ability to deliver positive outcomes through influencing internal groups, and companies is required.  Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-functional team with multiple interfaces is required.  Requires ability to communicate at all levels of the organization. Experience coordinating work across multiple areas of the refinery is preferred.   Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

3. Leadership - Consistently demonstrates Essential Capital Project Behaviors (Focus on the Work, Align and Inspire, Build Relationships, Deliver Results) and effectively implements MCP Strategies.  

4. Demonstrated Safety Performance/Managing Safe Work - Demonstrated commitment to supporting safe work practices and Incident and Injury Free (IIF) operations. Ability to incorporate Chevron safety culture and safeguard assurances into the design and implementation of the project.  Must be proactive in addressing safety issues. Serves as positive role model for contractors and project team.



Required Qualifications:

• B.S. in Construction Management or Engineering

• Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated knowledge of successful project and construction management practices.

• Proven ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision.

• Proven knowledge in the integration of project work with multiple stakeholders.

• Proven to be a strong safety champion who will lead the project in achieving "0" incidents and injuries.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Design/Construction Project Management role.

• Demonstrated familiarity with gated decision-making processes.

• Proven experience with chemical or process plant design and construction.

• Demonstrated prior related experience is highly desirable and will be a major factor in the evaluation of candidates.
