Information Systems Vacation Employment Program


Chevron Australia is inviting information systems students with a keen interest in the oil and gas industry to apply for our 12-week vacation employment program within our Perth office.


Chevron Australia’s Information Systems (IS) team delivers innovative and reliable applications, information and systems through several IT disciplines including enterprise architecture, business analysis, project management, information/data management and application development.


The Information Systems team develops and supports systems across the business, including:


  • High-performance computing systems underpinning gas exploration and development
  • Modelling data to optimise LNG operations
  • Managing sophisticated and complex process control automation for offshore platforms and onshore plants
  • Developing complex systems that schedule LNG cargoes


You will be given opportunities to stretch your technical breadth in all aspects of the IS domain and contribute to the execution of important IS deliverables. Through involvement in operational or project assignments you will learn skills outside of your profession, which will challenge the way you look at problems and expose you to cross-department initiatives.


Following completion of the 12-week program, vacation students who consistently perform above expectations may be considered for full time graduate positions upon graduation from their studies, where roles are available.


Who We Are Looking For


Applicants will be:


  • In their penultimate year of an information systems or information management, computer science, computer engineering or data science undergraduate degree, Honours, Masters or PhD
  • Performing at a consistently high academic standard
  • Excellent communicators with strong analytical skills and a focus on teamwork
  • Committed to Chevron’s values of trust, partnership and integrity and achieving an incident and injury free environment
  • Available for the specified duration of employment from 27 November 2017 until 16 February 2018
  • Eligible to legally work and live in Australia permanently


The following requirements are not compulsory but will be highly regarded:


  • Work experience in related and non-related areas will be held in high regard as will demonstrated involvement in extracurricular and community/volunteer activities
