Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Digital Engineer to join the Facilities Engineering Business team. Reporting to the Digital Asset Lead, this four-year maximum term role will be based in Perth with occasional travel to site as required.


Key responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the administration, coordination and management of SmartPlant 2D tools for operations and brownfield projects
  • Liaise with Chevron IT and engineering service providers (ESP) to establish uninterrupted access to SmartPlant 2D tools
  • Develop procedures, standards and best practices to manage engineering information and ensure content remains relevant and up to date
  • Develop and provide customised reports to facilities engineering and operations
  • Develop and provide regular SmartPlant 2D exports to other systems e.g. engineering data warehouse
  • Prioritise and develop enhancements to increase the efficiency within SmartPlant 2D tools
  • Investigate and support issue resolution and escalate as required
  • Coordinate the handover of engineering systems information from major capital projects and phase 5 engineering service providers to operations, ensuring that it is valid and complete
  • Support software upgrades and customisations when required
  • Provide subject matter expertise to major capital projects
  • Advocate the use of engineering tools to support operations activities
  • Ensure design system training and support content remains relevant and up to date
  • Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices

Key skills and experience required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (instrumentation/electrical, process) or related discipline preferred
  • Minimum 10 years SmartPlant 2D tools administration experience (primarily within the exploration and production environment including major capital projects,, operations)
  • Experience working with other engineering tools (e.g. Aveva Engineering Portal, Plant Design Management System and SP3D)
  • Ability to develop and customise reports using Structured Query Language queries
  • Experience working with engineering service providers and contractors
  • Ability to work using initiative with minimum supervision
  • Understanding of the operations engineering change process with respect to engineering information management
  • Ability to read/interpret technical engineering information
  • Good project management, IT, communication and negotiation skills
  • Methodical and practical approach to issue prevention, problem solving and an ability to work under the pressure
  • Strong customer focus
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results
