The I&E (Instrument and Electrical) Analyst – Projects/Services is part of a support team that design, install, commission, and maintain oil and gas facilities in Chevron.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


  • Support I&E Engineers on new and existing facility design and construction activities, including instrumentation, control, and communication designs, project cost and schedule management, facility construction, Factory and Site Acceptance Testing, I&E system commissioning and troubleshooting, startup and project turnover activities.
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining SCADA Human Machine Interfaces, PLCs, Servers, Applications and Communication systems using a work order ticketing process for issue reporting and resolution.
  •  Train and mentor Operations and Engineering personnel.


Required Qualifications:


  • 2-year Associates degree in Engineering Technology or Computer Science
  • A minimum of 5 years’ of complex process control systems experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • Advanced knowledge in PLC programming, wireless communications, GE PAC and WonderWare Human Machine Interface programming is highly valued.
  • Regular travel (>50%) to area field offices in Texas and Southeastern New Mexico.
  • Working knowledge of oil field operations, facilities instrumentation, installation practices and basic knowledge in National Electrical Code guidelines.   


Critical Selection Criteria:


  • Technical Knowledge - Experience with design and installation of SCADA systems, PLC/Electronic Flow Measurement/Pump Off Control equipment and monitoring/configuration software, design and implementation of wireless communication systems, troubleshooting procedures and object-based programming
  • Upstream Facilities and Operations Experience - Knowledge of oilfield operations including flowing and artificial lift wells, safety systems, flowlines, separators, heaters, tanks, pumps, compressors, metering skids, etc. Experience in gas fields, oil fields, Enhanced Oil Recovery floods, and sour gas operations
  • Operational Excellence - Demonstrated track record of performing and supervising all work in a safe and environmentally protective manner.  Understanding of Operations Excellence principles.  Commitment to Incident Free Operation and Safe Work practices, including practical experience with the Management of Change process. Process Safety (Process Hazard Analysis, Alarm Objective Analysis, Process Safety Information, etc.) and related Managing Safe Work (Isolation of Hazardous Energy/Equipment Isolation Plans, Working at Heights, Permit to Work, etc.) experience is desirable. 
  • Capital Stewardship, Communication and Teamwork - Experience using small project tools -framing/scoping documents, cost tracking, project schedules/milestones. Experience with leading field implementation (managing field crews, etc.), including commissioning and handover to Operations. Strong written and verbal communications. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with I&E Engineers, Facility Engineers, Construction Reps, Operations and Maintenance personnel, Construction Contract Personnel and others
