The Enterprise Systems & Services (ESS) JDE organization is responsible for implementing and supporting the ERP JDE Application for Global International Upstream. The Technical Services Analyst position is part of the global team that provides 24x7 operational support as well as primary delivery resources for building and implementing new business capabilities using the core ITSD-supported JDE technology. This role also supports the processes and technologies of JDE and related technologies.


Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Supports both the JDE Technical and Security Base Operations. Works on troubleshooting of issues, problem-escalation and resolution. Collaborates with Oracle and other software/hardware vendors to identify and resolve issues.
  • Plan and execute security access provisioning, software installation/upgrades, tools release upgrades, workload analysis, system health checks and monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain standards and procedures.
  • Design solutions, and assist production support teams in deploying the solutions by leveraging DevOps and Agile methodologies.
  • Assess the feasibility of technical and security changes, and their impact.
  • Assist to identify OC gaps within the organization, and develop skills as needed.
  • Assist with the IRM (Information Risk Management) analyst duties as required which could include:
    • Coordinating on providing guidance during audits
    • Maintain a current understanding of Corporate IRM Policies, Standards and Controls
    • Proactively assess the asset and processes for potential risk areas
    • Review processes, interfaces, or applications for IP compliance prior to transition to production


Occasional work during non-business hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) to respond to system emergencies or to complete critical tasks will be required and based on business needs.


Assists in the achievement of Operational Excellence objectives for overall system reliability, security, availability, responsiveness, effectiveness, and operational cost for ITSD.

  • Analyzes incident history records and conducts root-cause analysis on system failures that disrupt normal business operations when needed.
  • Upgrades system quality assurance processes and/or makes application process changes to eliminate future incidents.
  • Contribute to team initiatives relating to OE, Reliability and Safety


Provides design and consulting expertise for new implementations and enhancements to existing business processes related to security design.

  • Analyze and understand the business requirements. Demonstrates the ability to assess and understand the customer business objectives and to identify creative and doable business alternatives. Evaluates and recommends alternatives by identifying selection criteria and assessing alternatives against the criteria.
  • Identify and document requirements. Demonstrates the ability to gather and model business data requirements, business process requirements and business rules. Uses documentation of as-is situation, customer interviews and meetings in order to gather to-be solution data, processes, and business rules. Employs standard requirements gathering documentation and modeling techniques. Traces requirements from identification to implementation (Requirements Traceability). Helps manage scope of requirements.
  • Apply CPDEP for IT Principles and Processes within the framework of a project or other routine work (e.g., framing the situation, considering alternatives, communication, behavioral change management, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively (written and spoken)


Keeps abreast with the new technologies used by Chevron.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, MIS, Business or related area
  • Minimum 1 year knowledge and experience with JDE and/or other ERPs like SAP, Ariba, Oracle
  • Knowledge and experience working with Applications interfacing with an ERP System
  • Strong technical and security background (Windows/LINUX, SQL/Oracle Database, SOX)
  • Technically savvy; curiosity and drive to resolve technical challenges
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work well within a global team
