Chevron Energy Technology Company (ETC) is accepting online applications for the position of Technical Safety Engineer located in Houston , Texas  through April 10, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Enterprise wide process safety (PS) support to existing operations and major capital projects 
  • Facilitate technical risk assessments using appropriate qualitative methodologies (eg. HAZOP)
  • Develop and deliver technical PS training
  • PS subject matter expert (SME) role on internal audits, focused reviews, peer reviews, design assurance reviews, technical readiness reviews, and operational readiness reviews
  • Enhance PS competency across the Enterprise through sharing lessons learned in the Fire & Process Safety Newsletter, Operational Excellence (OE) Moments, mentoring, etc.
  • Act as facilitator or Subject Matter Expert (SME) on high profile PS related incident investigations
  • Provide support, response, and unique solutions to technical PS issues and initiatives managed through ETC Facilities Engineering (FE), OE/HES Center, or Business Units (Bus)
  • Project manager for large Tech Service jobs
  • Perform consequence modeling for fire, explosion and toxic releases utilizing proprietary software 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a process safety related role  
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in an operating environment with cross-functional roles in Engineering and Operations.
  • Experience with identification of process hazards and failure mechanisms.
  • Strong working knowledge of qualitative risk assessment techniques and other PS systems managing process hazards
  • Knowledge of engineered and administrative safeguards
  • Knowledge of Technical Codes & Standards (TC&S) impacting PS


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of  Science degree in Chemical Engineering preferred
