This position is considered a SME position and provides technical support on Fixed Equipment Inspection to both major capital projects and existing facility teams focused on improving fixed equipment integrity and reliability.


Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


  • Facilitating Risk Based Inspection (RBI) assessments, the development of fixed equipment integrity programs, identifying and providing solutions to inspection issues, conducting a range of qualitative and semi-quantitative risk assessments, and developing mitigation and monitoring plans.
  • SME will consult with business units(BU) to evaluate BU needs and recommend/implement solutions.
  • This includes evaluation of risk and potential business impact.
  • Expected to fill in for NDE & Inspection Team Leader at times.
  • Up to 50% travel to US and international locations. Trips are typically 2-3 weeks in length, particularly overseas travel.
  • Perform job functions safely and consistent with an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture.
  • Work in and around operating facilities, manufacturer and testing sites, with occasional climbing and internal equipment access.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience in fixed equipment inspection or materials/corrosion support in the oil and gas industry.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of corrosion/damage mechanism
  • RBI technical knowledge: Experience with equipment risk ranking studies and facilitation of RBI assessments to determine the appropriate inspection plan. Capable of evaluating the design and execution of existing RBI programs.
  • NDE technical knowledge: Knowledge of NDE principles and experience with technique selection based on the assigned damage mechanism.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • API certifications 510, and 580 preferred and other related industry certifications. (ASNT, NACE, etc.).
  • In-depth working knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Work with API committees preferred.


Critical Selection Criteria:


Fixed Equipment Inspection and NDE Expertise:

  • In-depth working knowledge of Inspection requirements and practices including code requirements, RAGAGEPs, damage mechanisms, interpretation and analysis of inspection data, and use of Inspection databases.
  • Ability to develop and deploy RBI training.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate the fixed equipment integrity management program of business units in various operating environments.

Initiative and Organization: Works independently with minimal supervision. Able to effectively handle multiple assignments for different Operating Company customers simultaneously, set realistic goals, and complete commitments on schedule.

Communication and Teamwork:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate messages effectively across various functions, disciplines and levels within the organization within large groups and individual situations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with outside regulatory agencies as Fixed Equipment expert for Chevron.
  • Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner, both written & orally.
