Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


  • Engineering subject matter expert for over 14 MM sq. ft. of commercial buildings managed by Chevron Business & Real Estate Services (CBRES). 
  • Provide expert opinions and advice on problem resolution, design, construction, compliance, and commissioning of building Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems (and related controls), electrical power distribution and lighting systems (and related controls), and process piping/plumbing domestic water and storm/sanitary sewer systems (and related controls), as well as fire/life-safety systems, elevators and other complex infrastructure for high-rise and low-rise buildings across the globe. 
  • Consult with other business units (outside of CBRES) on building-related issues, as requested. 
  • Review design drawings for building upgrades and renovations for compliance and compatibility with current codes and standards, safety-in-design, and the long-term capital reinvestment plan for the site. 
  • Provide Project Operations Planning support including oversight of building commissioning and handover activities and facilitate Project Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and Operations Readiness Reviews (ORR). 
  • Support development of capital asset renewal plans for strategic sites and multi-year project planning. 
  • Monitor building performance and support energy efficiency initiatives.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years’ of HVAC design experience. 
  • Registered as practicing Professional Engineer in at least 1 U.S. state, or international equivalent. 


Preferred Qualifications:


  • International project or operations experience highly desirable. 
  • Other professional certifications in related areas such as commissioning, asset management, energy management and LEED (for example) are highly desirable.
  • 5 years’ experience in facility management, operations and maintenance strongly preferred.
  • 5 years’ of experience in construction project management strongly preferred. 


Selection Criteria:


Project Management:  Experience working as a consultant engineer.  Must be able to prioritize conflicting demands from multiple customers, recognize synergies, postulate a solution, align relevant stakeholders and move to agreement, adjust to changing priorities, engage the proper resources inside and outside of Chevron within the framework of Chevron's Project Management System (CPMS), execute and report-out.


Safety/IIF:  This position will have the opportunity to reach into remote business units across the globe, and must have the ability to acknowledge and consider local standards, materials and methods, advise and render decisions and recommendations.  Exposure in different Chevron locations and business units presents excellent opportunities for visible leadership engagement and always leading by example, whether through safety-in-design, applying process safety principles to commercial buildings, or on construction sites or in normal daily operations
