Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Emergency Preparedness and Response Advisor located in San Ramon or Houston, TX through 1/23/2017 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).




The Emergency Management Advisor is a member of the Chevron Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response which is responsible for providing leadership, expertise and resources for Chevron’s overall emergency preparedness, response and crisis management. The person in this position will provide expert advice to senior corporate management, business unit management, and emergency response coordinators globally in all areas related to emergency response and crisis management.



Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:


  • Provides BU implementation support for the Chevron Emergency Management (EM) Standard OE Process: Operational reviews of EM plans, Incident and Crisis Management training and exercises, SME reviews of EM systems and equipment (fire, oil spill, other).
  • Coordinate the Regional EM Advisory Committee (REMAC) with regional EM Advisors.
  • Coordinate CVX Regional Response Team  for assigned region, includes readiness assurance, training, and exercises
  • Understand CVXs operations in assigned region and develop relationships with EM Process Advisors.
  • Develop working knowledge of government and regional emergency response framework(s) and policies
  • Understand the capabilities and activation procedures for response Cooperatives and key response vendors in assigned region
  • Support the IPIECA and United Nations International Maritime Organization “Global Initiative” within assigned region
  • Other duties: Duty rotation; Back-up Matrix Support for EM training and exercises; Special Projects
  • Travel 25% both domestic and international

Required Qualifications:


  • Degree in Emergency Management or relevant HES discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in Emergency Management; preferably multi-hazard including oil spill, fire, search & rescue, other.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in one or more: Incident Command System, oil spill response tactics and response technologies, fire fighting and fire systems, exercise planning and execution, design and delivery of Emergency Management training, development and logistical verification of emergency management plans.
  • Strong communication skills including oral, written, and presentation.
  • Ability to effectively engage Business Unit management, EM Specialists, and field operations.
  • Ability and experience in representing Chevron externally in trade association working groups and committees, response cooperatives, and industry forums and conferences.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Prefer experience with multiple incident command roles in both simulations (exercises) and response to actual incidents.
  • Prefer experience auditing, field verification, and review of emergency management related activities: emergency response plans, training programs, emergency response equipment and systems, exercise evaluation, post incident debriefs and gap assessments.
