Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Emergency Response Security Specialist located in Burnaby, British Columbia,  through February 10, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
 

Overview:

Chevron’s Burnaby Refinery is a modern 55,000 Barrel per day refinery located on Burrard Inlet near Vancouver, British Columbia. Our facility supplies a significant portion of southwestern BC’s gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel and is part of Chevron’s global network of refineries.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

 

  • Oversees Security within the facility to ensure Company, Regional and Federal rules and regulations are followed.
  • Works closely with the RCMP and the Security contractor to solve issues as they arise.
  • Maintains any applicable RI’s, plans and coordinates any audits required by Transport Canada, Corporate Security or US Homeland Security.
  • Maintains security contracts with security contract guard firm and access control/camera maintenance.
  • Ownership of security related improvement projects as a result of security audits, ownership of the security OE process. 
  • Oversees parking, parking permits and TA parking plans.
  • Maintain the security contingency plan(s). 
  • Inspects and maintains all large emergency equipment that is assigned to the Refinery. Including but not limited to: fire trucks, quick response trucks, hazmat trailer, SCBA trailer and 4X4 pickups. Includes all RI relevant to large and small emergency equipment.
  • Maintains all the contracts for 3rd party certification for the mobile equipment.
  • Inspects and maintains all small emergency equipment assigned to the Refinery. Including but not limited to: extinguishers, monitors, hoses, nozzles and SCBA’s. 
  • Contributes to evaluation of new technologies and equipment to determine if appropriate for the Refinery.
  • Maintains all the contracts for 3rd party certification for extinguisher, hoses and SCBA’s.
  • Participates in safety related training, hazmat training, Transportation of Dangerous Goods training, rescue training, fire training and emergency exercise activities.
  • Provides recommendations to supervisor for additions to training.
  • Delivers safety-related and emergency response training, including: hazmat training, boat training,  rescue training, fire training, respirator fit testing, site indoctrinations (as required), and participates in drills/exercises to ensure that the participants are set up for success and monitor their capabilities of the response team.
  • Serves on Refinery teams as support for fire protection, emergency response, Incident Command.
  • Provides safety leadership & motivation through conversation and visible actions

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years as a Placed on Call (POC) or full time firefighter.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Employee must obtain a Class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement, transportation of dangerous goods certificate, hazardous materials technician certificate, firefighting 1081 certified, boat license, MEDA-3, Industrial first-aid certified, rescue technician and Port Facility Officer certified (MSEC 1050 – BCIT).
  • Good communication skills through written, class room teaching and computer are essential for this position.

     

Relocation Options:

 

Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.
