Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

 

The Competency Delivery Specialist is responsible for providing lubricants training and coaching support to strengthen the technical and sales skills of Chevron internal sales and marketer sales representatives.  Training methods include traditional instructor led classroom training, and a blended learning approach including use of virtual web-based training platforms, and significant development of new mobile based micro-learning video content and support of new e-Learning content development. 

 

Competency Specialists also collaborate with sales on important customer opportunities and provide individualized coaching support both for technical competencies and sales behaviors. 

This role may be called upon to provide a broad range of technical subject matter expertise to support knowledge growth of lubricants and effective lubrication maintenance practices for improved equipment reliability.  Expertise would be called upon in support of knowledge growth and sales performance improvements in commercial, industrial and automotive business segments. 

 

Specific Responsibilities include:

 

  • Organizing and providing technical products training and strengthening the selling skills of internal and marketer/distributor sales representatives supporting B2B sales to commercial, industrial and consumer automotive business sectors.
  • May also be called upon as a technical resource to help resolve customer issues, provide situational sales support and coaching, and provide practical field input in support of marketing initiatives. 
  • Participate and support new e-Learning content and mobile based micro-learning video content development for lubricants sales competency development

 

Note: This position requires a significant amount of travel supporting training needs in assigned area (50% -70% for travel/training delivery may be required).

 

The most successful candidates for the position of Competency Delivery Specialist would possess the following qualifications and capabilities:

  • Ability to work with marketers/distributors and sales representatives helping them improve their technical product understanding, knowledge and use of value based selling tools, and effective execution of the sales process. Includes coaching and mentoring.
  • Experienced selling to or supporting direct end use customers in broad range of businesses including commercial, industrial and consumer automotive sectors
  • Understands and can coach sales reps how to follow the "Global Lubricants Sales Process" in B2B selling situations
  • Understands and can collaborate effectively with CRM system tools (such as SalesForce.com) and familiarity using social selling tools (Linked-In)
  • Good grasp of value based selling concepts including the Reliability Based Lubrication (RBL) Toolkits, with ability to teach how value based selling concepts can be used to strengthen sales performance
  • Possess at least a basic level understanding of overall finished lubricants components/formulation as relates to lubricant performance. Good understanding of lubrication maintenance practices, plus experienced with wide range of lubricants product families and their equipment applications
  • Strong understanding and ability to teach others about equipment operations, lubrication maintenance practices and product applications in Commercial On / Off-Hwy, Industrial/Manufacturing, and Consumer Automotive sectors
  • Good troubleshooting and problem solving ability (similar to a lubricants technical field specialist)
  • Has successfully passed the STLE - CLS certification exam.
  • Demonstrated capabilities as a presenter/public speaker who can deliver technical, products and sales/marketing messages with confidence to groups of any size
  • Sales and technical credentials and experience to quickly establish credibility with groups of wide and varying background
  • Demonstrated ability to think on your feet in handling and responding to customer questions and challenges
  • Must possess reasonable computer skills to efficiently create or customize presentation materials.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of the degree
  • A minimum of 3 years of lubricants sales or equipment sales experience
  • Must have previously passed Society of Lubrication Engineers (STLE) Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS) exam.
  • Understanding and experience with value-based selling concepts and sales tools (such as Reliability Based Lubrication - RBL™)
  • Understanding of Used Oil Analysis and experienced with interpretation of test results
  • Demonstrated ability to create and effectively deliver technical and sales presentations
  • Demonstrated equipment maintenance or lubricants industry background that will help to quickly build credibility with audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to operate with high degree of independence responding to field training delivery requests and technical/sales support needs in assigned area.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Problem solving experience as Lubrication Engineer or Lubricants technical specialist
  • Sales or maintenance experience with industrial or commercial equipment
  • Experienced and recognized as a lubricants or equipment maintenance technical expert within the industry
  • Have passed the STLE Oil Monitoring Analyst (OMA) certification exam
  • Reasonable working ability using PowerPoint to create and update presentation materials
  • Experience with CRM tool such as SalesForce.com and social selling tools (Linked-In)
  • Prior public speaking experience giving presentations or prior training responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of Chevron Lubricants product line is preferred
